I awoke this morning to the news from New Zealand of a devastating earthquake of 7.4 magnitude that rocked Christchurch in the early hours of Saturday morning! The CBD area has been closed down due to the extent of the damage, and will likely be closed at least until Monday morning.
How bad it must be for all the business owners who were looking forward to the first Saturday of the month, and especially being the first Saturday of Spring (Yes, the 1st September heralds in Spring here in the Southern Hemisphere), when they should be able to make a lot of sales and profit, only to find that the sales for the day would be zero!!
It made me thankful that I chose the cbd marketing agency internet to market my business, and to work from home. And even if my home is destroyed in an earthquake or some other such phenomenon, my business can still continue, so long as I still have my laptop and a good internet connection.
But one thing I did realise, that in a case where my website is hosted on a remote server which is out of my control and protection, it would be a good idea to have a back up of my website/s and all my business activities so that in case anything unforeseen should take place, I will still be able to continue with my business.
And that is really the main benefit of running a legitimate home business on the internet as opposed to the traditional business in a building of any kind: One’s overheads are a lot less, there’s less risk from the elements (fire, earth, water and air), And the world is your market. Oh, yes, and I’m not limited to one income source.
